Toys teach tricks! 6 years old and Cashy stomped that first try. This is one of the coolest ways we’ve seen snowboarding tricks be taught, especially when it comes to young riders. Being able to spend a day with @Snowboard Trainers he had our little girl doing all kinds of new tricks by the end! Every spring our family has migrated south to @Mammoth Mountain for some warm weather shredding. Mostly because Mammoth has some of the best LTR (Learn To Ride) parks in the world and they hold snow sometimes till mid July. Unfortunately this season we are not making it down that way but this moment with Duncan was too good not to share, plus we added more to this edit that nobody has seen yet! #snowboarding #teaching #toys

When learning to wakeboard there is a bit of a counter intuitiveness that a beginner will have to overcome. See when the boat is pulling you up you naturally want to pop up super fast and immediately stand up. While that works for when you’ve done it a bunch, it actually is the opposite while learning. At the very start you want to let the boat pull you up instead of forcing a fast stand up because typically you will be pulled over the front of your board until you learn to control it by leaning against the force of the boat. Here are the rules we taught our little girl to help her get up her first time. 1st Rule: Arms straight, knees bent 2nd Rule: Let the boat pull you up 3rd Rule: Keep the nose of your board up 4th Rule: Lean back on your back foot 5th Rule: Smile As you can see in this video, Nick is sitting on the swim platform using his feet to keep the board perpendicular to the boat. He’s doing this to keep her board from turning on her so she can feel the force of the water push against her board which will eventually help her stand up. However the above, with Nick sitting on the swim platform and Cashy directly off the back is very unique to the style of boat. This technique should only be done behind boats that have a V or Direct drive. Meaning the prop is under the hull of the boat not directly off the back. Boats with an inboard/outboard or stern drive (which is directly off the back of the boat) you should not be this close as the prop can suck you in and seriously injure you. For those types of boats, we recommend having someone in the water with you that can help you pop up or start off a dock. With summer right around the corner hopefully this gives you some inspiration to get out there and try yourself or some tips to help others! The stoke, positivity and willingness to try are all things we’re so proud of little Cashy for having. She was hesitant on that jump line but after a practice lap where I (Nick) hit all the jumps to gauge the speed needed, I knew she had it. See on lots of jump lines especially in the spring, Cashy just doesn’t weigh enough to gain the speed needed to clear the knuckles. Even if she straight pins it. So I’ll check them out and I can usually tell from the speed I needed if she can hit them. And hit them she did with Hype Mom in her corner pumping her up! #snowboarding #lakelouise #canada
