This year, on Good Friday we are flying back to Galiwin'ku via Darwin with Jetstar and Air North ( on a 20 seater plane). This time there is 4 of us going!! (which means more hairdressers available to help do hair for First Nations community) We received enough funding for 3 of us ( with accommodation and flight expenses), so one of us still needs the flights covered to be able to forfeit the time off throughout easter and help to do 1 week of hair colouring on the island. The joy this brings the Yolngu people is priceless, they absolutely loved having the choice of hair colour and feeling pampered and having access to hair coloring, freedom of expression and a service that is not available on Elcho Island. Every donation to the value of $20 will put you in the draw to win the very first wig that I ever painted, in 2018 ( 7 years ago ) it was originally auctioned for a charity to raise money for cancer research in San Antonio , Texas , USA , a Melbourne drag queen Leasa Mann bought it, and has recently donated it back with the intention that it goes towards helping an Indigenous community, so we are using it as an insentive for people to donate to this fundraiser.
