Brambly Hedge tree dollhouse reveal! This year’s dollhouse theme is Brambly Hedge and the gorgeous homes and lives of the mice that live there - you guys thought that rather than just giving my daughters the books, I should make their tree home, and how could I say no to that challenge?! The verdict? I don’t know about you but I am honestly dying this is sooooo cute and better than I could have ever imagined. i had so much fun learning all about the different techniques for doing this, it’s quite complicated so a good place to start is the Where The Gnomes Live youtube (Sharon created tbe texhnique of using foil abd paper towel to make fake bark) and With His Grace did a Heartwood Hotel tree turorial that is great inspiration. The girls are absolutely over the moon and can’t believe they get to play with it, and I agree lol. Thank you so much for being here and humoring me through another last minute creation. Brambly hedge inspired tree dollhouse part 1. I may be totally insane embarking on another last-minute dollhouse project, but after so many of you told me I needed to do make their tree mouse house (I was just going to give the girls the books for Christmas), as soon as I started thinking about it, I couldn’t stop! I have literally been kept awake at night with ideas so, the heart wants what the heart wants. And apparently, that means torturing myself with another project! So let me catch you up on what I’ve been doing for the last week - namely, making a tree dollhouse from scratch using cardboard cylinders and boxes, paper towels and a rainbow of brown paint. This was a huge learning curve and took lots of trial and error, and I’ve watched probably a thousand hours of youtube to work out how to do this (shout out to Where The Gnomes Live and With His Grace for tbe amazing inspo), but I honestly am just so blown away that it is even possible. Brambley Hedge tree dollhouse part 2 ✨ Making the magical world of Brambly Hedge for my daughters - this has been so amazing and I can only imagine how much I would have loved this as a child! But it’s been a lot of work and yes ofc I’ve left it all very late. BUT fueling myself with bad reality TV and blocks of almond dark chocolate helps! I’ve spent the last few day tackling the walls and the floors of the tree dollhouse, taking inspiration from Brambley Hedge and my own cottagecore daydreams. How cuteeeeee is this wallpaper? TREE DOLLHOUSE PART THREE My Brambly Hedge inspired dollhouse is coming along! As usual, when I started out doing this I thought I could just use some dollhouse furniture I already have for each of the rooms but naturally, well natural for me, as soon as I fnished making the tree and started looking at all the tiny details I honestly felt like it would be a crime not to do the interiors properly - cue a giant sleep deficit and a few tears along the way. I started pouring over the book and picking the things I wanted to recreate - the delightfully cluttered vibes of the homes of the mice were such an inspiration! I also looked at real life inspiration which is something I always do when I am making a dollhouse, and it’s something that I always tell my dollhouse course students to do too! For this Margot Roth and My Mulberry Home gave me sooooo much inspiration (and urgh envy) with their incredible cottages. May that life find me! Shout out once again to the amazing Where the Gnomes Live and With His Grace who had lots of ideas and tips when it came to the tree, moss, stairs etc etc. I decided to go with the berries and I have to say it looks sooooo good!
