Pressure washing techniques can be massively destructive. When an oyster is pressure washed, tiny organisms like anemones split into multiple pieces and spread like wildfire. Anemones cause the oysters growth to be stunted and often lead to death. Developing a symbiotic relationship with fish however fixes this problem. All of the pests that grow on oysters are like potato chips to reef fish. Every few months we bring our oyster baskets in from the deep back into shallow waters where local reef fish do the cleaning for us. This has led to an abundance of food causing local marine life populations to surge from tiny fish at the bottom of the food chain to sharks at the top.
