It weighs heavy on my mind that a lot of people defended the behaviors of who I call out. Imagine I hired a videographer to a protest and then dressed as Pennywise to “show support” during a protest, knowing damn well it will gain attention and then take that opportunity to make content and then have the audacity to put “I’m not here to clout chase, I am here to support the community” as my caption for the video. Note that different social media platforms have different ways of monetizing off a video. The moment they go live while in protest is one of many ways they get monetized. Any opportunist would when it comes to saving their image so they make money, don’t lose followers and potential brand deals. Wake up! Step back and pay attention to who you are glorifying! They were quiet during election day, why are they so active now? Oh, the embarrassment I would have felt if I went out my way to dress up and “support” the movement. Ya’ll need to remember that some of these influencers hide their true colors behind social media. Anyone that had any experience with these influencers will tell you how they are behind the scenes. They’re about it now because they got called out. I know some of ya’ll will disagree and not care because they’re out there supporting but it’s a lame move to use a movement during sensitive times to make content out of it. There are appropriate times to make content and appropriate times to go to a protest and actually be there without having to post about it. “But at least they showed up to the protest and you didn’t!” Seriously? I didn’t know attending a protest is mandatory now to show support and raise awareness with what the country is going through. There are many ways to support a movement and showing up to a protest to make content ain’t it! When all the dust settles, pay attention to those influencers you defend so much. Only time will tell and you will see through their bullshit. Take this post with a grain of salt and be open minded. Not all influencers are bad. But there are ones you will see through their intentions. Vibes and energies are off, trust your gut feeling, and remember I told you so..
