Replying to @Britt Stone The Death of A Bison - Grand Prismatic Spring, Yellowstone National Park - June 21, 2025:I didn't think this would make the news, but I knew I was witnessing something incredible, shocking, and gut wrenching as I witnessed the grand beast plunge into the hot spring and struggle to get out........ I was there, at the Grand Prismatic, on that cold Saturday morning. It was 32 degrees at that time and the spring was covered in heavy mist. It was about 6:45 am. Mandi and I arrived at the parking lot at 6:30 am on the dot. There were two Bison present. One was close to the boardwalk, the other was further away, but they were together, partners. I could not believe what I witnessed, I was in a state of disbelief.........I was taken pictures, and so was Mandi .......we captured the death of the beast. I heard the splashing when he went in, and the struggling noises as he wailed to get out....it was all but 30 seconds later before he disappeared into the pool and mist......it became silent. His partner came up to the boardwalk and was sniffing the ground, in search of his friend, who then floated back to the surface as a blob in the pool. I then realized the true impact of what I had witnessed, the loss of a friend, as grand a beast as he was. Something I never expected. This made local news, and now National news...I didn't expect to see something so unique, cruel, and true nature.
