I am German and I used to live in berlin so here are 6 of my favourite places to eat in the city No1 this is rogue, but you have to try the mettbrötchen at Junge die Backeriei in Mitte. It’s raw pork on bread roll, it’s very German and a must. No2 Liu Chuan Chuan Xiang nudelhaus in Mitte, you’ll recognise it by the long queue stretching out the door at lunchtime. It’s Sichuan food, I always get the tongue numbing spicy pork won ton soup, I love this spice, it makes your mouth prickle and feel fuzzy. No3 Turkish market In krezubherg. It’s on every Tuesday and friday and you can get fruit, vegetables, cured meats, unbelievable spreads, raw meat, Turkish baked goods, pickles and really good coffee. No4 you cant come to Berlin and not have a doner.I think most döner stalls are pretty decent especially compared to in the UK where the kebab meat is super processed, smooth and doesnt look edible. I always have garlic and yoghurt sauce on my doner, it costs between 5 and 7 euro and don’t forget aran, which is a salty yoghurt drink. No5 berlin burger international in Neukölln, I didnt go this time but the halloumi burger is out of this world. No6 sahara, sudanese food also in Neukölln. They make pita sandwiches with a choice of falafel, chicken halloumi or a combination of these. Each pita costs around €5 and comes with an unbelievable peanut sauce which has to be eaten to be believed. #berlin #berlinfood #berlinlebt #berlincity #solotravel #solodate

Replying to @Amyfuchsia this is how you eat oysters: If your oyster arrives still attached to the adductor muscle, use the small fork provided to slide beneath the flesh and detach it / release it from the shell. add some dressing, I like the shallot mignonette or lemon and tabasco and then throw it with gusto into your mouth - I like to chew it two or three times - and then swallow. I don’t include footage of me chewing and swallowing oysters because it would make the videos 3 times longer and it’s not very interesting to watch. We are at Sam’s waterside where the oysters come detached from the shell already. Now I have your attention, here are 7 fun oyster facts 1) Oysters are typically eaten while still alive, as freshness is key to both safety and quality. 2) They are gender-fluid, capable of changing sex throughout their lives—often beginning as males and later transitioning to females. 3) Oysters have existed since the Triassic period, over 200 million years ago. Some ancient species grew up to 12 feet long. 4) Humans have been eating oysters since prehistoric times, with evidence of cultivation dating back to the Roman Empire. 5) Though oysters are animals and not considered vegan, some vegans and vegetarians choose to eat them, arguing that their lack of a central nervous system suggests they do not feel pain. 6) An oyster can live for up to 20 years. 7) a single oyster can filter as much as 50 gallons of water per day #oyster #oysters #austern #oystergirl #oysterlover #seafood #london #londonlife #hammersmith #samsriverside

Hello friends its time for another solo date Today I am going to a 3 course cookery class at the Woodspeen cookery school in Newbury. It’s 1 hour on the train away from London. This is how it works, you arrive everyone has their own station and the chef leading the class cooks at the front of the room and then you copy what they do at your own station. I chose to do the Woodspeen classics course, where we cooked their most popular starter, main and pudding off the restaurant’s menu. This was chicken terrine with a shallot chutney and soda bread, lamb with asparagus, pesto potatoes and romanesco sauce and panna cotta with rhubarb compote and digestive biscuit. Everyone else there was a couple so I think it is more fun if you go with a partner, friends of family. There are also other courses that focuss on curries, beef wellingtons, afternoon tea and baking, meat butchery, French cuisine and more. It costs £165 for a 4/5 hours course They also offer corporate and team building classes too. (Invite) #solodate #cookerylesson #cooking #baking #thewoodspeen #newbury #berkshire

Oyster flight time with some crisp pairings: 1) taki fuego + creme fraiche + lime 10/10 enjoyable but predictable, there was no way this wouldn’t work 2) pickled onion crisps + honey + parsley + Parmesan + Worcestershire sauce 9/10 flipping amazing, lots of depth and texture and unusual flavours 3) salt and vinegar + black pepper + shallot mignonette + capers + nori flakes 4.5/10 just really boring an one note - too vinegary (shocking coming from me) and lacking anything special / devoid of interesting flavours #oyster #oysters #oystergirl #oysterflight #tastetest #cooking #seafood #oystershucking #takis #crisps

I’m German, and today I’m heading to the capital of the VATERLAND—Berlin—for a week-long solo trip. My flight’s at 10am from Stansted because, now that I’m in my thirties, I no longer book flights that require a 3am wake-up. I don’t hate myself that much. I got the stansted express from Liverpool Street and guys I did vow never to fly Ryanair again, but when faced with a £60 flight versus £320 on BA, the choice was made for me. That said, screw Ryanair—this exact flight was £34 the day before, and when I booked, it had doubled. That’s almost as rude as paying £4.05 for a flat white. Yes, there’s an airport premium, but at what point are we making a stand? Soon, we’ll be paying £6 or £7 unless we start protesting. Anyway, Berlin is so much cheaper than London, which is a huge part of the appeal and the plan is to revisit my favourite restaurants, check out some galleries and museums, and, of course, go clubbing. Berlin nightlife is unparalleled. But if you’re planning a visit, don’t come in January like me, come between May and October—the rest of the year, the city turns into a grey, depressive hole. also LOL at the airport which looks like a hardcore techno club. Once you arrive at the airport, it’s a 40 min train into the city centre. A week’s travel pass costs €44.50, and you need to buy and stamp your ticket before boarding, If you don’t, it’s a €60 fine—no exceptions even for tourists. The ticket inspectors show no mercy—I saw three people get fined within seconds of leaving the station by plainclothes inspectors.

Solo dates ep 22: secret / lost / disused parts of the London Underground. I went to Baker Street to learn about all the history of the station hidden in plain sight as well as a rundown of the history of TfL in its early days. here's how it works we met our guides at the Sherlock Holmes statue, and headed into the secret and disused parts of the station some of which are hidden in plain sight for example just off the modern westbound platform you'll find abandoned rooms that once served as passenger waiting rooms complete with a fireplace and even a men’s loo we also explored a disused lift shaft made of wood which was closed when the station became too busy and then was replaced with escalators and now serves as a ventilation shaft this tour explores the history of Baker Street and the early days of public transport in London. The tube was the world's first underground railway and initially ran steam powered tubes with first class carriages where tickets cost 6 pence and regular tube passengers were nicknamed sewer rats! there also used to be a London Transport Rifle club within Baker Street and you can see the disused rifle range here and London Transport used to grow food for the employees in their own farms this tour was so much fun it was basically a 90 minute history lesson tickets cost £45 you can do tours of other stations too and you can book it through London Transport Museum #hiddenlondon #secretlondon #bakerstreet #abandonedplaces #hiddeninplainsight #London #londonlife
