📍 Meet Your Matcha | Edmonton This “food” truck specializes in matcha lattes + mini pancakes! 🍵🥞 I tried them out at 124 Grand Market last weekend — they’ll be there again this Sunday. It was hard for me to choose which one because they all sounded good. I ended up with my usual — strawberry matcha latte. They use ceremonial matcha from Japan. The matcha had a strong taste that was balanced out by the sweetness of the strawberry puree. I tried out the matcha & blueberry mini pancakes. It was light and fluffy. Topped with blueberries, matcha powder, and condensed milk. Each order comes with 8 pieces. Their upcoming market dates: • June 22 - 124 Grand Market (11 am - 3 pm) • June 23 - Orchards Farmers Market (4 - 8 pm) #matcha #farmersmarket #yegfood #yeg #edmontonfood #edmonton #edmontontiktok
Have you heard of dirty sodas? 🥤 It’s a drink with soda, cream, and flavoured syrups mixed together. They originated from Utah but now they can be found in and around Edmonton at 2 spots! 📍Sip Soda Co | They just opened up their storefront in Sherwood Park. The menu is massive. You can choose one of their creations or make your own. There are 3 diff cup sizes — kids, regular, and stadium (pretty much giant). I had Starting Lineup which seems to be the most popular flavour and Rip Tide. I preferred Rip Tide because it was fruity and refreshing but I did get the stadium size which was a bit too much for me! They were fairly busy when I went but the line moved quickly. 📍 Druid’s Dirty Soda Bar | A truck in Edmonton. [hosted] You can also choose from their creations or create your own. The drinks are fairly priced — $3 kids, $4 regular, and $5 large. I tried Creamsicle which I enjoyed as I’m a big fan of anything creamsicle flavoured in general. Their truck schedule varies weekly; visit their Instagram for it. #dirtysodas #yegfood #yeg #edmontonfood #edmonton #edmontontiktok
📍 Nero | Edmonton An Italian spot from the same team as Bianco and Rosso! 🍝 They’re located in the Brewery District. The interior is beautiful and the restaurant is quite spacious. Their menu is a combination of the other restaurants’ offerings with a focus on pasta and pizza, along with appetizers, salads, and mains. I started off with the Calamari Fritti. The breading was good but I did find it to be a little salty after a few pieces. From the pastas, I tried the Malfadine al Ragu d’Agnello and Gnocchi alla Sorrentina. The Malfadine had lamb and veal ragu. It was flavourful with a little spice. The Gnocchi was soft and pillowy with a slight crisp on the outside. It was also big in size compared to other restaurants. Both dishes were enjoyable but I did favour the Gnocchi. I also had the Espresso Martini which I recommend — the foam had a slight cinnamon taste to it. #italianfood #yegfood #yeg #edmontonfood #edmonton #edmontontiktok
📍 Juu Ku | Edmonton Chef Andrew Funger of XIX is opening up a modern Asian restaurant! 🥢 The restaurant is opening this month — stay tuned to their Instagram for the opening date. [hosted] Juu Ku’s menu combines Japanese, Chinese, and Korean influences. The space is set up to resemble a bento box. It’s modern and trendy. You can get seated at the sushi bar, cocktail bar, or various normal dining areas around the restaurant. On the menu, you’ll find dim sum, sushi, and main courses ideal for family style sharing. Out of everything I tried, the highlights for me were the miso cod (it reminded me of Nobu’s), salmon nigiri, and pan fried xiao long bao. #yegfood #yeg #edmontonfood #edmonton #edmontontiktok
📍 Kukuruku | Edmonton This is a fried chicken chain from the Philippines! 🐔 They’re located in the westside. What makes their chicken different is the lechon flavour. If you haven’t tried lechon before, it has a pork taste. The chicken here is hand battered and comes as crispy chicken, chicken tenders, and chicken wings. I picked up a bucket of crispy chicken for game night and a crispy chicken combo for myself. The chicken was crispy for sure! I’m not sure if it was just our batch but me and my friends thought the chicken was dry. My combo came with fries, corn bread, and a drink. The fries were underwhelming and lacked flavour. The corn bread tasted better; it was fluffy. I upgraded my drink to their taro boba which tasted good and on par with bubble tea stores. With new businesses, there’s room for improvement and I wouldn’t hesitate to try their chicken again in the future. #kukuruku #friedchicken #yegfood #yeg #edmontonfood #edmonton #edmontontiktok

📍 Bento Kuma | Edmonton How long would you wait for a restaurant? ⏳ This is a Hong Kong style cafe that opened up last month in Keswick (Windermere). I went last weekend and got here 10 mins before the opening time but there was already a lineup! The hype is real. I ended up waiting just over an hour to get seated. They have noodle soup meals for $17 — I opted for the beef satay one. The meal came with satay beef noodle soup, bread, fluffy egg, and a drink (I had HK style milk tea). I found this to be fairly priced. The food wasn’t bad but it wasn’t worth the long wait for me. The beef satay was tender and not too spicy. Noodles were pretty much the instant ones; I would’ve preferred if the restaurant had made them. I got the iced version of the HK style milk tea and didn’t find it that strong; maybe I should’ve gotten the hot version instead? I also had the Taiwanese popcorn chicken which was good but could’ve used a dipping sauce. I’d recommend waiting for the hype to die down or going during non-peak hours (maybe not on the weekend like I did). They’re open from 1 to 8 pm everyday except Tues + Wed. #hongkongcafe #yegfood #yeg #edmontonfood #edmonton #edmontontiktok
