Tide pools are endless treasure chests of ocean gems. Wild creatures! Beautiful shells! Real Life Moana!

A lava blowhole is a natural opening along the coastline where waves push through a lava tube, forcing water and air up like a geyser! 🌊🌋 These blowholes are formed by ancient volcanic activity, where molten lava created tunnels that now connect to the ocean. When waves rush in, the pressure builds up, sending a powerful jet of water into the air. What’s even cooler? These lava rock areas are where crabs hide out, molt, and grow new exoskeletons. 🦀 After crabs shed their shells, the old exoskeletons get crushed by the waves, breaking down into tiny pieces. This process releases calcium into the water, which helps nourish coral reefs and supports their growth! So, crabs and blowholes don’t just create a great show—they also help sustain the ocean ecosystem!

Just finished an ocean treasure hunt—which became a trasher hunt! 😳 Every piece collected means less harm to marine life and our ecosystems. Did you know? 🐢 By 2050, there could be more plastic than fish in the ocean by weight. 🌍 Only 9% of the plastic ever made has been recycled, with the rest piling up in landfills and our oceans. 🌞 Sunlight breaks down plastic into tiny pieces called microplastics, which end up in the food chain and even in our water….and in us! Life in a treehouse is pretty coconuts, especially when you magically transform into a mermaid to help clean the oceans with your bestie, Ocho the octopus! 🐙🌊 Did you know octopuses have a hectocotylus? It’s a special, shorter arm they use for reproduction—talk about multi-tasking limbs! What’s even cooler? The hectocotylus is detachable, meaning Ocho can share a little piece of himself when it’s time to find his love. Did you know crab exoskeletons are made of chitin, a natural material that breaks down and helps nourish the ecosystem? 🌊🦀 While exploring tide pools on the hot lava, I found some exoskeletons (don’t worry, these crabs have already molted or moved on 🦀✨) and gave them a little squish—especially the eyes, as requested! 👀 Fun fact: the exoskeleton is like armor for crabs, protecting them until they outgrow it and leave it behind. By squishing these leftover shells, I help them break down faster and return vital nutrients to the ocean. 💧♻️ What should I squish next? Drop your ideas below! 💭👇

🌋🔥 Just another day sprinting across hot lava to uncover treasures in tide pools! 🐚✨ Along the way, I found Sam the sea cucumber, stranded as the tide pool started drying up.
