I have been fostering dogs since 2014 when I was a college senior. I fell in love with helping the cases who really needed me, and I never stopped. The “behind the scenes” of running a rescue can be truly brutal. I see the absolute worst of humanity and the cruelty they do to animals. I see dogs starving, beaten, injured on the streets, you name it. I am out at all hours picking up dogs from horrific situations. I am walking euthanasia lists having to decide who we can save and who we can’t. I am on the receiving end of hate because someone didn’t get picked to adopt a dog or because I couldn’t “rescue” their dog they want to get rid of fast enough. But the dogs remind me every day why it’s worth it.
