If you feel like this, you should just leave... As if leaving isn't the most dangerous time. If leaving isn't a risk that could cost you your life. As if you can just leave when you have kids with them. As if leaving is easy when he controls the money and you have no where to go. The right thing is to say "I'm sorry this is so hard. What can I do to help? What do you need?" or "What is he doing that makes it so hard for you to leave?" Abusive men do NOT just let their partners leave. They are emotionally manipulative and their victims may be in a trauma bond. Yes the goal is leaving but saying "I would leave" or "just leave" or "I don't understand why anyone would stay" causes shame, which causes them to stay longer. Be supportive or be quiet.
