In my experience and in most cases, aggressive dogs are actually very insecure. The “aggression” is used as a way to make others go away or is used as a catalyst for an expected outcome —being removed from the situation. Don’t get it twisted though. They can and will still bite 💯 Dogs are smart. They tend to do what works for them. Insecure dogs can easily turn into bullies too. I mean, that’s literally the root of all bully behavior, including human bullying. When can create boundaries & limitations while simultaneously building their confidence and teaching the dog that their aggressive behavior is not necessary. Do you think your dog may be insecure? A healthy dog is a balanced dog. Behavior issues are often linked to underlying health problems — pain, discomfort, poor diet, and lack of exercise can all contribute to anxiety, aggression, and reactivity. Prioritizing your dog’s health isn’t just about helping them feel good — it’s about setting them up to behave better and live a more balanced life. True love isn’t just affection — it’s making sure your dog feels their best, physically and mentally. When you care for their health, you’re setting them up for success. #doghealth #balanceddog #dogtrainingtips #caninewellness #healthydog #dogbehavior #dognutrition #DogTraining #dogsofinstagram #packleader
Too many people see what they want rather than seeing the reality of what is in front of them. People love to romanticize moments between dogs and kids, overlooking or ignoring the tension, the warnings, and the discomfort. Unfortunately, when it comes to dogs and children, this will only end up harming the child and or the dog. To most people, this is all cute and adorable until the dog bites the kid and is rehomed or worse, killed over an avoidable bite. #dogbehavior101 #dogbehavior #dogpsychology #cutedog #dogtoks #dogoftiktok #kidsanddogs #ignoranceisbliss What did you see when you first watched this video? Be honest with yourself. I’m not here to judge anyone, just to spread awareness.
No one wants to intentionally hurt a dog. But a dog that is aggressively attacking you, your family or dog, UNPROVOKED should be felt with swiftly and firmly. It’s not a joke, it’s a not a game. Big dog, small dog, medium dog. A bite from any dog can be life altering and possibly fatal. If you don’t want to be physically involved with an aggressive dog, carry pepper spray with you. If this message rubs you the wrong way, I’m not sorry. Life isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. #aggressivedog #dominantdog #selfdefense
Moral of the story is dogs can be unpredictable. And even a dog that you think looks friendly and is acting friendly, may not be friendly at all if you don’t know what you’re looking at. Oh, and stay away from street dogs. #DogBehaviorist #dogpsychology #dogbehavior #aggressivedog
You’re doing yourself, your family, and your dog a disservice by not learning canine body language. Most dog bites are preventable — if people actually understood what they were looking at. Instead, people make assumptions and then act surprised when dogs behave like… WAIT FOR IT……. DOGS. 👉🏽 Did you catch the signs that the dog was uncomfortable? #caninebodylanguage #dogbehaviour #dogbehavior #policedog #dogpsychology
Structure isn’t optional — it’s essential. This situation is a harsh reminder that dogs can be unpredictable and that love and affection alone aren’t enough to create a balanced dog. Dogs need clear leadership, boundaries, and guidance — even if they seem friendly or social at first. Testing for behavior issues and providing structure from day one is the best way to discover and prevent dangerous behavior from a new dog in your home. #DogTraining #balancedtraining #dogpsychology #caninepsychology #dogbehavior #dogtrainingtips #leadership #dogowner #dogtrainer #rescue犬 #dogsofinstagram #reactivedog #dogaggression #packleader
It just seems like nobody knows what to do when an aggressive dog is attacking another dog or a person. Clearly you can’t depend on people so the best thing you can do is arm yourself with the knowledge of how to instantly stop a dog attack. Now, if you wanted to give Dirk some credit for ultimately stopping that fight, I guess I can get on board with that, although his approach unorthodox, to say the least. With that said, if he would have taken the dogs air supply, the attack would’ve been over much faster. Thoughts?? #Dogfight #GermanShepherd #aggressivedogs #dogaggression
There isn’t a dog or situation that I can think of where I wouldn’t crate train the dog 💯 Does that mean dogs need to be crated for their entire lives? No, not necessarily. But if I have even a suspicion that a dog can’t be trusted and may possibly get into things when I’m gone, they will be crated. Every dog must be evaluated and treated as an individual and on a case by case basis. There is a way to build trust with your dog and that starts with good day to day management and supervision. #dogsafety #cratetraining #packleader #housefire
Structured walks are just that. STRUCTURED. There should be no mindless pulling to sniff around. Why? Because it defeats the point of a structured walk. If you want to give your dog a break to sniff and “be a dog”, please do. In fact, I encourage it. But just make sure you’re the one making that decision, not your dog. I tell my clients to adopt a “work hard play hard” mentality when it comes to walks with their dogs. I encourage them to go in and out of structured walks with their dogs. #dogwalking #dogbehavior #looseleashwalking #structuredwalks Is your dog constantly pulling over to stop and sniff?? 👇🏽
🫵🏽“Your dog should never walk in front of you” 👆🏽That’s a ridiculous statement. That type of rigidity will make people give up, never feel like their dog is doing good enough or make people put too much unnecessary long term pressure on their dogs. Balance is EVERYTHING. If your dog is completely out of control, and dragging you down the street then yea, stop that and don’t let them PULL ahead. But if your dog is calmly walking slightly ahead of you, checking in, and still responsive to you—who cares? The goal isn’t to turn your dog into a robot; it’s to have a calm, balanced walk where you’re in control and your dog feels secure. Obsessing over “perfect heel position” or constantly being in the front isn’t the answer—teaching your dog to follow your lead and respond to you is. Notice how Logan checked in with me on his own and even sat and waited for me to give permission all on his own. Do you want this with your dog? 👇🏽 #DogTraining #dogsoftiktok #dogtok #fyp #foryou #balanceddogtraining
What I love about dog training is adjusting my approach based on the individual dog, owner, and situation. ➡️ For the Shepherd – I’d start with trade and positive reinforcement to lower defenses and build trust (“good things happen when I approach, reach, touch, take”). If needed, I’d use corrections to set clear boundaries (“don’t do that”). ➡️ For the Terrier – I’d start with meaningful corrections to stop the aggressive response (“NEVER do that again”). Once they show self-control, I’d introduce rewards to teach that “good things happen when I approach, reach, touch, take.” 🔎 Key factors I assess with aggressive dogs: * How quickly they choose aggression * Purpose behind the aggression * Intensity based on the situation * How they interact with family members * Overall personality and disposition * Who they target and why * Daily routines and lifestyle Those are just a few off the top of my head 🧠 🚨 Blanket training methods don’t work for aggression 👇🏽 ✨Positive reinforcement only with the terrier would teach “give me something or else,” and never set a clear boundary. 🗯️While punishment only with the shepherd could make them more defensive and never help them drop defensiveness. An obese dog is a dog that’s suffering—struggling to move, breathe, and live a comfortable life. Loving your dog means prioritizing their health. And for the record, I’m not referring to dogs with medical conditions like cushings disease although being overweight/obese can actually cause it as well. #doghealth #dogwellness #obesedog #stoptheabuse Do you think an obese dog is an abused dog or a loved dog?
The operative word here is “sharing” The affection has to be mutual, wanted and understood by the dog. Your affection may likely be misunderstood by dogs you don’t know, and in some cases, dogs you do know. It’s better to be careful, than to be surprised and end up with a disfigured face. #psa #dogpsychology #dogbehavior101 #DogBodyLanguage #dogsofinstagram #dogs #lovedogs
